Fleeting Spirit Swerves Diadem for Abbaye
Fleeting Spirit misses Sunday’s John Guest Diadem Stakes to wait for the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on Sunday October 5.
The Invincible Spirit filly hasn’t been seen since finishing third to Equiano in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
Trainer Jeremy Noseda, who wasn’t happy with her wellbeing in the aftermath of the Royal Meeting, says she is now ready to return to the track, albeit not this weekend.
He told the Racing Post: “She’s working nicely in preparation for the Abbaye. I’m happy with her and she’s in good order.”
Noseda will still be represented in the Group 2 at Ascot on Sunday, by Van Nistelrooy colt Strike The Deal, who was ninth in the re-routed Group 1 Sprint Cup on his latest start at Doncaster.
His Sixties Icon also runs in the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge.
Noseda continued: “Strike The Deal had a nice blow and will run in the Diadem, and Sixties Icon also blew out well and will go for the Cumberland Lodge.”
