Mulryan, Chaillé Chaillé Part Company

The successful partnership of owner Sean Mulryan and trainer Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé has ended. “The separation was amicable,” said Chaillé-Chaillé.

Mulryan’s horses will now be split between three French trainers, Nicolas Bertran de Balanda, Laurent Métais and Yannick Fouin.

“Oh Calin and Luxstar arrived on Friday evening,” said Métais. “Hervé Barjot [Mulryan’s Racing Manager] let me know ten days ago; I don’t know if I’ll be getting any more but to be called upon by an owner like Sean Mulryan is an honour and could be a turning point in my training career.”

Yannick Fouin was similarly pleased with the three horses he received at the beginning of the week, which includes consistent black-type chaser Zarkali. Fouin was insistent that, despite the new arrivals, he would not be changing the way he works.

Nicolas Bertran de Balanda is expected to receive his trio of horses today. Rhenus, a Listed-placed runner on the flat for André Fabre, will form part of the lot as will a pair of three-year-olds. Balanda commented, “It’s a great piece of news, very motivational.”

In addition to the runners allocated to the French handlers, a number of Mulryan’s horses will be sent abroad. Barjot said, “The change of stables will take effect gradually and a number of horses will leave for Ireland and England in September with a view to running at Cheltenham.”
