Moulin an Option for Henrythenavigator

Aidan O’Brien has revealed that he is considering running Henrythenavigator in the Qatar Prix du Moulin, although nothing has been decided.

Henrythenavigator added to O’Brien’s impressive Group One haul when landing the BGC Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last week to bring his own personal tally for the season to four.

The dual Guineas winner holds several entries over the coming six weeks but O’Brien could decide to swerve each of those in favour of the Prix du Moulin on September 7 at Longchamp.

“We haven’t a target for Henry yet, but it’s possible we’ll be looking at the Moulin next with him, although nothing is confirmed yet,” O’Brien is quoted as saying in the Racing Post.

The Juddmonte International, Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes are all options for Henrythenavigator.

O’Brien, meanwhile, is considering sending a large party to Australia for the Melbourne Carnival, which includes the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.

O’Brien has saddled runners the “Race that stops a nation” for the last two years and with 15 horses entered in the Melbourne Carnival, the Ballydoyle handler will be hoping it will be third time lucky.

Henrythenavigator and Duke Of Marmalade could line up in the Cox Plate, while Mount Nelson is a possible for the Caulfield Cup.

O’Brien has seven horses entered in the Emirates Melbourne Cup, including Yeats and Septimus, although last year’s third Mahler has been ruled out through injury.

“We’d love to have a runner in the Melbourne Cup, but a lot is going to depend on quarantine restrictions this year. If the quarantine regulations disrupt the horses’ training too much, to a point where if effects preparation and it’s a disadvantage, then obviously we won’t be going,” O’Brien explained.

“There are a lot more regulations this year, more so than last year, when it was difficult, so it’s going to depend on those things.”
