Another Milan Gelding Tops Land Rover Second Session

There were no fireworks yesterday during the second session of the Goffs Land Rover Sale but following on from the previous day a Milan gelding again attained the highest price.

Lot 393, consigned by Summerhill, a three year-old Milan gelding out of 13-times winner and black-type placed chaser Tri Folene, was sold to Kevin Ross for €70,000 and will remain in Ireland.

Henry de Bromhead had to wait until the latter stages of the session to secure the next highest-priced lot, a Flemensfirth gelding (483) from the family of St. Leger winner Giolla Mear, for €44,000.

English agent Jeremy Brummit spent €34,000 on lot 354, a Bob Back filly out of a half-sister to Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Call.

Tom O’Mahony paid a similar price for lot 463, a four year-old Blueprint half-brother to four-time winner and Grade 1 placed novice hurdler Strontium. He will go in training with Adrian Maguire.

While turnover on the second day reached €2,735,900, figures were down markedly on the previous day. The average of €15,370 was down 38% and the €14,000 median showed a fall of 30%. This was the first time that the Land Rover Sale was spread over two days.

The one-day June National Hunt sale begins this morning at 10am.
