Milan Gelding Tops Land Rover Opening Session

The Goffs Land Rover Sale got under way yesterday at the Kill venue with a Milan gelding out of a Be My Native half-sister to Gr.1-placed hurdler Kildare taking centre stage.

Consigned by Ballincurrig House Stud, he was sold to Aiden Murphy for €92,000. Peter Moloney’s Rathmore Stud sold the second highest-priced lot of the day when his son of Indian Danehill out of a full-sister to French Gr.1-placed Kalimisik was purchased for Nicky Henderson by Highflyer Bloodstock for €90,000.

Ginger McCain was also active, when going to €82,000 for an Oak Tree Farm-consigned Oscar gelding closely related to Bacchanal.

For the first time since its inception the Land Rover Sale is spread over two days. If a valid comparison could be made with the opening day last year, yesterday’s session saw the median fall €5,000 to €20,000. The average also dipped from €32,376 to €24,894, a fall of 23%.

The sale continues today and will be followed on Thursday by the one-day June national Hunt sale.
