Royal Academy Mare Tops MM Fourth Session
A lightly raced mare by outstanding international sire Royal Academy topped the fourth session of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast today.
Value hunting buyers were out in numbers looking to buy bargain mares after the recently completed record breaking select component to the National Broodmare Sale.
All up 155 lots changed hands today at a session aggregate of $637,100 and average price of $4,110. The clearance rate was a very healthy 82.5 per cent.
Lot 1520 - the Royal Academy mare Cat Royale took the honour of being the top priced mare of the day when knocked down to Magic Millions acting as agent for a Korean client.
The mare, consigned by Vinery Stud (as agent), is in foal to their prominent resident Success Express sire Mossman.
Magic Millions managing director David Chester said he was pleased with the amount of interest from international buyers this afternoon.
“Our Korean buying bench was very active and we’re expecting the same for horses that suit their criteria tomorrow,” Chester reported.
“And the smart local buyers are here, as well as some well known interstate agents such as Michael Flannery and Darrell Ible and locally based John Foote.”
“The value is outstanding and there will be plenty more to be had tomorrow,” Chester summed up.
