Group Two Winner Kosi Bay Added to MM National Sale

Last start Group Two winner Kosi Bay will go under the hammer at the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

The star mare is yet another highlight entry for the sale which will be held from June 1, following the four day Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

A daughter of Nureyev’s leading international sire son Spinning World, Kosi Bay is a sensationally bred mare who will attract the attention of leading breeders across Australia and overseas.

Trained by Hall of Fame horseman Bart Cummings, Kosi Bay scored a fast finishing win in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes when she faced the starter at her most recent start on May 3.

That brought her racetrack record to four wins - two at stakes level - and ten minor placings from 30 starts and stakes earnings of $334,950.

As well as being a top class racetrack performer in the her own right, Kosi Bay has a black type packed pedigree.

Being from winning Varick mare Calvinia, Kosi Bay is a half sister to the Group One winning New Zealand based star Calveen.

A winner of 10 races from 1400 to 1600 metres, Calveen was the Champion Sprinter/Miler of New Zealand in 2005. In all she won six group events.

Kosi Bay and Calveen’s dam Calvinia is a half sister to six winners including the Group One Derby winner English Wonder.

English Wonder in turn is the dam of two Group One winners - Dr Grace (four Group One wins) and Asia (SA Oaks).
