Haradasun Set for Irish Debut
Australian Group One star Haradasun could make his debut for champion trainer Aiden O’Brien in Ireland on Sunday.
In an unexpected change of plans last year’s Doncaster Handicap winner has been entered by O’Brien for the Group 3 Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown on Sunday.
O’Brien is considering bringing forward the European debut of the Fusaichi Pegasus stallion to Sunday’s 1600m race after previously indicating he would not start until either the Group One Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 17 or the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
Haradasun also won last year’s G1 George Ryer Takes at Rosehill when trained by Tony Vasil.
A controlling 50 percent share in Haradsun was secured by Coolmore Stud for a reported $22 million in a deal with his Australian owners last year but he failed to win in five Melbourne starts last spring including a third to El Segundo in the W.S. Cox Plate.
He then failed in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington before he was shipped from Australia to join the O’Brien stable in Ireland.
