Magic Millions to Sell Heavenly Glow Half-Brother

Release

A half brother to today’s brilliant Group One Australian Oaks winner Heavenly Glow will go under the hammer at June’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.

The colt by Not a Single Doubt will follow in the footsteps of his star sibling who at the 2006 National Sale was purchased by former trainer and current part owner Ross Stitt.

Heavenly Glow notched up her second Group One win today following her previous start romp in the Arrowfield Stud Stakes at Rosehill. Her bank balance has shot to $636,500 - not bad for a $10,000 buy!

The Oaks winner’s half brother is the star member of a quality draft from Sarsfield Thoroughbreds, the colt has been catalogued as lot number 2473.

Sarsfield’s Simon Thompson said the colt was an attractive youngster who should attract plenty of attention at the Gold Coast auction.

“He’s a really nice type,” Thompson said. “I know everyone says it, but on type he’s the pick of our draft.”

“Being by Not a Single Doubt he’s a different type as a yearling than Heavenly Glow was,” he added.

“She looked as though she needed a bit of time and would make into a lovely three-year-old and older - whereas the Not a Single Doubt colt is more precocious and looks a get up and run type.”

Thompson said today’s Oaks victory gave him the thrill of a lifetime as a long time thoroughbred breeder.

“I’d been moving horses much of the day and I’d just got back ten minutes before the race,” he reported.

“It’s just an incredible feeling - I get excited winning a maiden race - but an AJC Oaks is something else!”

“This was a real Australasian Oaks today - the best from Australia and New Zealand all clashing in the one race. They came from everywere.”

The half brother isn’t the only yearling in National Sale to receive a tremendous pedigree update thanks to Heavenly Glow.

Foxsphere, a half sister by Foxhound to Heavenly Glow, has a filly by Show a Heart catalogued for the auction.

Show a Heart was represented by today’s Keith Mackay Stakes winner Shoboard - a member of the Patrick Webster stable.

Ironically Shoboard is another graduate of the National Sale - purchased by Matt Lewis for $90,000 last June.
