Tawqeet to Stand at San Ignacio de Loyola

Tawqeet (Kingmambo), winner of the G.1 Caulfield Cup and G.1 Metropolitan Handicap in 2006, is to stand at the Haras San Ignacio de Loyola in Buenos Aires.

Bred by Andreas Putsch’s 6 C Stallions, Tawqeet was purchased by Sheikh Hamdan for 100,000 Guineas at the 2003 Tattersalls yearling sale.

Originally trained in England by John Dunlop, Tawqeet won three races before placing third to Scorpion in the 2005 G.1 St. Leger. After finishing third in the Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Newmarket he was exported to Australia where, within three weeks of arriving, he promptly scored two consecutive G.1 victories for trainer David Hayes.

In 2007 Tawqeet ran eight times and although he finished third in his second Caulfield Cup, he failed to win again, his last run coming in the Melbourne Cup in which he finished 14th.

Tawqeet was the second foal out of the Caerleon mare Caerless, a half-sister to Baya, a nose runner-up to the Aga Khan’s Shemaka in the 1993 G.1 Prix de Diane.

Tawqeet joins a roster that already includes Crowning Storm, Holt, Seattle Hoofer and Chubasco Cat.
