Quinn Successful in Ban Appeal
Curragh trainer John Quinn is back in business following yesterday’s successful appeal to the Turf Club against the suspension of his licence earlier this year after he was found in breach of Department of Agriculture regulations.
Although his original €5,000 fine was only halved, the February 6 suspension imposed by the Referrals Committee for four months from March 1 was removed.
The severity of these sanctions was the kernel of the issue, as he had already accepted he broke their rules as well as being in breach of the Department’s swamp fever restrictions when he ran Rokocoko at Tipperary on July 23, 2006.
Meanwhile, Distinction is reported to be in top form as the nine-year-old begins another campaign for staying honours at Ascot tomorrow.
The Michael Stoute-trained gelding faces six rivals in the Group Three Woodcote Stud Sagaro Stakes, including last year’s winner Tungsten Strike.
