THE 2008 GrandWest Yearling Sale will be held under the auspices of BloodStock SA on Saturday, 17 May and Sunday, 18 May at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Goodwood, Cape Town.

This year 62 more lots will be offered than last year - 291 versus 229.

GrandWest 2007 has already produced three Listed winners in Gee Pee S (East Cape Fillies Nursery), Burberry (Betting World Somerset 1200) and Sparkling Gem (Summer Juvenile Stakes).

The sale retains the format where progeny of first and second season sires are sold on Day One (17 May) starting at 18:00 while those by established stallions pass through the ring on Day Two (18 May) - this session will commence at 11:00.

BSA Incentives will be in place for the following:

1ST and 2nd season sires: R100 000 will be paid to the owner/s of the first graduate to win a Grade 1 Race in a 2-year-old or 3-year-old career.

Established sires: R100 000 will be paid to the owner/s of the first graduate to win a Grade 1 Race in a 2-year-old or 3-year-old career.

Buyers can also enter for the ongoing “BSA Bonus” series of races consisting of 14 juvenile feature races offering R890 000 in total added bonuses. Buyers enter by “Ticking the Box” at the time of purchase.

The Yearling Sale will be followed by a Mare & Weanling Sale on Wednesday 21 May, also at GrandWest in the same venue.
