O’Reilly Retires as Robert J. Goff Chairman

Release

The Board of Robert J Goff & Co plc have announced the retirement of Oliver S O’Reilly as Chairman. Eimear Mulhern, former Executive Chairman of Goffs Bloodstock Sales, will take over the position as Chairman of RJ Goff & Co plc (RJG) with immediate effect.

Oliver O’Reilly joined the company in 1999 and has played a significant role in increasing the global profile of RJG. oliver-oreilly.jpgHe oversaw the merger of RJG with Doncaster Bloodstock Sales, the second largest and fastest growing Thoroughbred Auction House in the UK. Goffs and Doncaster Bloodstock Sales are now both wholly owned subsidiaries of RJ Goff & Co plc. The company also acquired Trotting Promotion in France, and a major shareholding in French bloodstock sales company Arqana during O’Reilly’s tenure as Chairman.

Eimear Mulhern was appointed Chairman of Goffs Bloodstock Sales in January 2005 and was responsible for the introduction of the hugely successful Goffs Million Sale and associated races. The Million spearheaded a major resurgence for Goffs which saw turnover more than double in just two years.

An established and successful breeder and sales consigner with her Abbeville & Meadow Court Stud, Eimear Mulhern has given considerable service to the bloodstock industry in Ireland and abroad. She is a former Chairman and President of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association as well as a past Chairman of the European Breeders Association. Prior to the establishment of Horse Racing Ireland, Mulhern served as the Breeder’s representative on the Irish Horseracing Authority.

Eimear Mulhern, newly appointed Chairman RJ Goff & Co plc, commented:

“Robert J Goff & Co plc has a long and proud tradition of providing a service to the bloodstock industry. In my new position as Chairman, I look forward to working closely with Group CEO Henry Beeby as we achieve our target of becoming a truly global Auction House offering quality, value and unrivalled customer service.

Oliver has played a central role in the growth of RJG, and on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for his service to the Group and wish him every health and happiness for the future”.

Oliver S O’Reilly, retiring Chairman and former CEO of RJ Goff & Co plc said:

“Significant milestones have been reached in the last number of years in positioning Goffs as a global player in bloodstock auctioneering. I wish the team, under the Chairmanship of Eimear Mulhern, continued success in the pursuit of that vision”.
