Golden Day for Arrowfield Sires

Release

For the ninth consecutive week Arrowfield stallions have been responsible for a G1 or major race winner. In fact, between 22 February to 19 April, Arrowfield stallions have sired 10 individual G1 performers of 16 G1 races including six individual winners of nine G1 races.

Danzero was first off the mark on Sydney’s Golden Slipper Day when Hoystar added the Listed Schweppervescence Stakes to his last start course record victory in the G2 Star Kingdom Stakes.

Hussonet demonstrated, yet again, why he qualifies as one of this country’s leading sires. Champion three year-old Weekend Hussler (Hussonet) cemented his prospects as Horse of the Year elect with an effortless victory in the G1 George Ryder Stakes. It was ‘The Hussler’s’ sixth G1 win for the season, a feat last achieved by the legendary Kingston Town nearly 30 years ago.

Three races earlier, another son of Hussonet, Rios (NZ), staked his claim as an AJC Australian Derby contender after finishing second in the G2 Tulloch Stakes.

Australia’s Champion stallion Flying Spur has enjoyed an exceptional run of success with his progeny in recent weeks. Golden Slipper Day confirmed his emergence as a broodmare sire when Sebring maintained his unbeaten record in the two year-old showpiece. Sebring has now won four races and $2,178,800 in prizemoney.

First season sire Falbrav was back in focus as well courtesy of juvenile filly Brava Fortune who added the G3 Sires’ Produce to her last start win in the G2 Karrakatta Plate. From only a handful of runners, Falbrav is now positioned a clear second on the First Season Sires List.

Arrowfield stallions are well represented at the William Inglis & Son Easter Yearling Sale which commences at Newmarket this afternoon. Progeny of the stud’s proven sires are on offer as are a number of yearlings by freshmen stallions Not A Single Doubt and Charge Forward.
