Nahoodh Faces Dozen in Fred Darling

Lowther Stakes heroine Nahoodh will have her first start at three when she takes on 12 other fillies in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury.

Mick Channon’s daughter of Clodovil has not been seen since her win on the Knavesmire in August and connections are mindful that she has yet to come in her coat. She steps up to seven furlongs for the first time in the Group Three prize, traditionally known as the Fred Darling.

Channon told his website: “Nahoodh is a filly who is still quite hairy and she still hasn’t really come in her coat, but she has so much scope. I’m just worried whether the weather has caught us out. She is a grey and sometimes they can take longer to lose their winter coat.”

Don’t Forget Faith beat Visit on her debut at Newmarket as a juvenile and signed off for 2007 with a decent effort behind Zarkava in France. She has delighted trainer Clive Cox over the winter.

He said: “She bumped into some good ones last term and was slightly inconvenienced by quicker ground. I was very pleased with her effort finishing off last year when she was fifth in the Marcel Boussac at Longchamp.

“She’s wintered very well and she’s really strengthened too. I’m really pleased with her progress so far, hence the reason we’re taking a shot at an early trial back to seven furlongs.

“I do realise this will be a starting point for her with a view to going further. But I am keen to run in a trial to see exactly where we are going to be heading with her.”
